Thanks for helping out. It is a courier-imap prob. I guess i post a question there.
But just for your info .. i couldnt find the
DEFAULT_DOMAIN in my authdaemonrc.. i am using vchkpw (vpopmail + courier-imap +
squirrelmail)... running authdaemond

The description of your problem sounds like the Maildir/ doesn't exist
for the user you're trying to log in as.
But then, you say that with a 'Normal' IMAP server, you get a
username/password error. Can you define your idea of a 'Normal' IMAP
server so we have a common point of referen
