You can try that, but it may be the wrong way of addressing the problem
(which you seem to understand).
Could you please provide us with information about the IMAP server you

Personally, I use courier-imap which has been solid and reliable for
me.. Though it's my understanding that dovecot is an excellent IMAP
server as well. Courier has all of my Maildir folders preceded with a

I would tend to agree. This doesn't look like a Squirrelmail issue, but
an issue with your MTA not being able to contact other mail servers.
I would do as John and Peter have suggested. From the mail server, try
using telnet to connect to other mail servers. An example done under

Marc and Chris are both correct, it is highly unlikely that Squirrelmail
is causing the items to be deleted. It is much more likely that the
situation you are experiencing is caused by your IMAP server. Courier
IMAP, for instance, has an automatic purge function built in that does
precisely this.
Hi there! Thanks for the detailed configuration information.
I'm curious whether you have cookies enabled in your web browser, that
can sometimes cause a problem like this. Also, have you tried
recreating this problem in another web browser or from a different
computer?

the rest of these questions.

I have seen the problem of dropped 'F's before.
It is seemingly caused by the Postfix mailserver actually. I sent a
message to my local Linux User Group regarding this problem and someone
sent me this procmail recipe:

I do know that the FAQ on the Squirrelmail site
(http://www.squirrelmail.org) has at least one topic on
performance-related issues, possibly a read of that may shed more light
for you.

For my part, I'm running Squirrelmail 1.4.3a on Debian and am showing
quite clearly "Timezone Options" under "Options" then "Personal

If the same message will recreate the problem, I would be fascinated to see
one of the messages in question.
Also, what version of Squirrelmail are you running?

I recommend using SM 1.4.1-cvs. It's stable and has a few
performance-related enhancements. It's what I run on my servers and have no
difficulty with it.
