Hi,
if I'm not mistaken in Scid you have to adjust the width of a column in
gamelist manually. Can you implement a feature where the width of a
column is automatically adjusted to its content or title? In ChessX this
feature is called "Resize visible Columns" and is an option when you

This used to be possible in Scid by entering 14.Rfd1 as a new variation,
and then go one move back -- you'd still be in the variation, but before
the move, and any comment a

Hi. I'm new to Scid (tried it years ago, checked it out again recently and
was very impressed by how far it has come).
First, I would like to put forth a request for what I think is a simple,
but valuable, addition. When annotating games, there is only the option to
add a comment after a move, b
I'd like to use SCID to interface with my coffee pot, which I've
connected to my computer. They share the same extension cord, so this
seems to be a reasonable request. Unfortunately there are very few
developers, and they are wasting time fixing bugs. Are there any
developers out there who can

I'm not sure about how CB actually does it but I noticed that they write

Not easy to do. To display games you have first to load the base. And with a
PGN file you have import it. It is time consuming and I see no easy way to
"preview" a base content.

I support this request. Maybe the database switcher can be modified for this
purpose. It can show all your databases, with a colour or icon indicating
which are open and which not. It's probably the only useful CB feature that
has no equivalent in Scid.

A nice feature would be the ability to preview (1 button click) databases
(pgn/scid) as chessbase light 2009 has. I just navigate through its file
explorer and click on any database file and the bottom pane shows the games
contained in the db.
Visually it looks very clean (far superior to file find
Anyway, can you please just tell me how I can do it?
Thanks,

Dear all,
actually in the report you can have only up to 10 transpositions
for a position. Some position can have more than 200 opening
transpositions so I ask if it is possible to increase the choise
of the transposition number in the report window.

I believe such scripts work great, but sorry, I have no intentions to
become a programmer, nor do I have the time to learn scripting :)
For me, GUI-clicking is the only thing I manage. I really need simple,
fast and intuitive solutions, sorry.

Yes, the problem comes up once you exceed 20 games. (Ie. this afternoon ;)

Thanks for your help!
Yes, Benoit, that is a cunning workaround for a small Scidbase with 20
games. Tagging 80 or more games by hand in a special header each might
be harder, though.
Alexander, I agree with you, that in many cases it might be clever not

For me, the speed of the tree search is the best feature of scid (much
faster than Chessbase 9 reference function).
But I found the output a little bit confusing, in particular I don't
like "ECO" and "frequency percentage" columns.
Moreover I consider the performance valuable only compared to the
Aquarium has a nice feature called the "Board Cursor" that enables an
arrow that shows the last move. I'm pretty sure it, or something else,
also has an option for an arrow showing the next move.
I think this is a handy feature (particularly the first, indicating
the previous move) that would make
For some common header searches, the Header Search dialog is a bit too
complicated. I suppose following quick search idea will be useful:
Just open standard text-input dialog and interpret it as below:
Kasparov- finds Kasparov games as white
-Karpovfinds Karpov games as blac
When the pgn window is docked and the pgn is too long for the current window
size, it is scrolled to the bottom. Could a scroll to top be put in so that
the header info is always visible when a game is loaded ?
