I have complained about this a long time ago but apparently it is
intended.
It doesn't make sense to me but I think the authors think this feature
let you
check JUST the opening for a bunch of games without annotating the rest
of the
game.
I have noticed however that when you disable "Find open
Beutiful, thanks a lot. I will try it as a soon as I can.

I was very impressed by Mike's script. Do you have one for

I have a server I would like to ssh to and just leave annotating
games during the night without a graphical interface.

I found out that under Options -> Windows -> Save layout
one can actually do what I was requesting. I set up my layout as I want
it, with the board, pgn window and engine in docked mode and I saved the
layout as default and scid remembere
