Since Mac OS X comes with Tcl 8.4 by default and the next release of
Scid will require Tcl 8.5 (which hasn't been so easy to get working
for Scid), I'm trying to embed the Tcl/Tk frameworks into the
application itself. If I succeed on this task, it won't be needed to
install Tcl

You're right. A Social network would be oversized (for the first step)
and renting a big root server too expensive. But it could be a small
site, where only a few admin-users can check-in and maintain the data.
