I knew I remembered this error. A quick search through the list archives on Moongroup's site finally reminded me of where I saw it. I don't know if it's still present in 2.2.19, but earlier 2.2 kernels had a "Use multi-mode by default" option that says: Use multi-mode by default CONFIG_IDEDISK
