mouse config - probably a n00b question

Hello again, Another good question for you all - I have a 5 button mouse (2x left, 2x right & middle). The extra 2 buttons were, in windows, used for fwd and back in IE and the file manager. Im not bothered about it working in my internet browser - mouse gestures in opera sorted that one.

Thanks, I would want the keyboard, mouse and monitor all to be on the remote computer. I guess I forgot to include that little detail. I'll have more specific questions in a few days after I set it up to use. I may have enough parts to make up a second computer for Linux.

I have used both logitech and microsoft USB mice with scroll wheels- no trouble in kde or gnome.   Just make sure to select MS intellimouse usb during installation.
