You probably need to load (= insmod) the proper module. What does your
/etc/modules.conf look like? Any references to ide-scsi or ide-cd? If not,

There is a bug in rh 7.0 regarding cd -rw.
Edit rc.sysinit with pico and search for the string modprobe ide-scsi..
Place that line under the fi statement.
IMPORTANT make a copy of the file before editing it. It controls the whole system.
In fstab write
/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,user,rw
PC: Toshiba laptop satellite s3000-400
system: redhat 7.0
For activating the drive for writing cds I have installed the
scsi-emulator. Mounting the cdrom gives the return: not a valid block
device.
I searched by google and got several hits on this problem.
Next step was to give the command:

I've been trying to mount a WD firewire drive and I keep getting : wrong
fs type, bad super...etc
Here is what I have:
#!/bin/bash
modprobe ieee1394
modprobe ohci1394
modprobe sbp2
sleep 2
rescan-scsi-bus.sh
sleep 2
mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /Firewire
and after fdisk /dev/sda1
Disk /dev/sda1
I installed the new RH7 and cannot mount the cdrom. The message
I get is:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

instead of some logical partition inside?)

First, I am rebuilding my linux box right now but here is an extremely odd
problem I hit tonight. I am trying to use my external, parallel port
Syquest sparq drive.

in dmesg it reported the drive as being recognized and
This is not ment to sound snippy, but could you be a little more specific.
What does the error say, what is the device name of the cdrom, and i am
assuming (though it makes an as* out of u and me) the floppy is /dev/fd0.
Try this:
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /cdrom <--My system cd is /dev/

Hey guys,
When I try to mount a disk whether it's a CD or a floppy I get a message
about fstab.
How do I then go about getting this media mounted?
Thanks.
