Hey there Steve,
I ran into this exact same problem connecting to the NT Server at work.
The fact that your friend at the ISP actually has enable the "allow any
authentication including clear text" is a very good sign. What that means
is that his NT Server is set up to allow PAP authentication.
That means that your password must be passed to the access providers server
in plain text - in other words, not encrypted.
