Hi everyone,
Here's my situation. I run RH 7 on my labtop and we have a
printserver (another Linux machine ) which controls our
print jobs for the LAN. Its running Samba since most clients
are Windows machines.
Now I ran printtool and configured everything properly. I

Hey there, I have a machine I am setting up to use a remote printer and
I am having problems. Both machines are running lpd. I have grep'd for
their existence and they are there. I have created the following
/etc/printcap file:
##PRINTTOOL3## REMOTE ljet4 300x300 letter {} LaserJet4 Default {}
If you want to allow printing from ANYWHERE (inside your firewall), you
should be able to put just a line containing "+" in hosts.lpd.

I am having problems setting up one of my student workstations to print

I am trying to share a printer between two linux boxes. They both have an upgraded
lpr, and I have added alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc to both of their conf.modules
files. I used printtool to configure both of them. The printtool tests work great, but

1) Add client ip address to /etc/hosts.lpd on remote server.
3) Use printtool on client to setup a remote printer.
Add --> Remote Unix (lpd) Queue
Note: This requires remote ip address and queue
3) Print test page.

Hi,
I'm completely unable to print over my network. I have three Linux

Get the updated lpr packages either from updates or from rawhide (I
recommend the latter).

Hi,
I can't print over my network. I have three machines. The one on which
the printer is attached is ok. But when I try to print from the other
two machines. I get the error message:
hostname: lpd: lp: Your host does not have line printer access
hostname is the machine on which the printer
ccount there as well, even if it is just a dissabled one.
Restart lpd on the remote machines.
Now all should go well.

There was a bug in the initial version of Red Hat Linux 6.1 preventing
remote printing from working.

Hi,
Any printing experts out there? :-)
I am trying to setup remote printing between two PCs in a local network.

Both PCs run RH6.1.
What happens is that on the workstation I print to the defined queue,

I have a strange problem with my printer daemon it doesn't accept

This is my printcap configuration file and I have no rs specified.

Now THIS would certainly explain some things! Could you please post the
fix to the list
If you don't have the same acct names on the local and remote machines,
there's a bug in lpd which silently swallows print requests. Contact me
directly for a fix, if needed.

Hi
I don't seem to be able to get something simple
to work. I've got a RH4.2 box set up as a printer
server and it is supposed to accept remote requests.
I have the client hosts listed in /etc/hosts.lpd as
I've been instructed by various sources of documentation.
as follows:
