Hi

I don't seem to be able to get something simple
to work. I've got a RH4.2 box set up as a printer
server and it is supposed to accept remote requests.

I have the client hosts listed in /etc/hosts.lpd as
I've been instructed by various sources of documentation.
as follows:

client.our.domain

This is apparently all I have to do. I can print locally
just fine. I get the following result from one of the
client hosts:

# lpc status lp0
lp0:
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        5 entries in spool area
waiting for queue to be enabled on printserver

and /etc/printcap on the client reads:

##PRINTTOOL3## REMOTE laserjet 300x300 a4 {} LaserJet Default 1
lp0:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp0:\
        :mx#0:\
        :sh:\
        :rm=printserver:\
        :rp=lp:\
        :if=/var/spool/lpd/lp0/filter:

and on "printserver":

# lpc status lp
lp:
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        no entries
        no daemon present

also on "printserver":

# netstat -a | grep printer
tcp 0 0 *:printer *:* LISTEN
unix 1 [ ACC ] STREAM LISTENING 762 /dev/printer

/etc/printcap on "printserver" reads:

lp:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
        :mx#0:\
        :sh:\
        :lp=/dev/lp1:

but this is just to show that I didn't get the queue names wrong :-)

What more has to be done?

Thanks
