Update the version you have from redhats errata pages, then have a look in
/usr/doc for a start & man ftp
It pretty much works when installed, and you don't have a problem yet, so
start using, then ask specific questions to problems as they arise.

Just a note, you may want to get a different FTP server, there have been
alot of known exploits in the wu_ftpd server. For a very flexible and more
secure ftp server (with good instructions) go to www.ncftp.com.
