computer. I found a modem at a thrift store that appears to be in
new condition. It is a Courier I-Modem ISDN 128kbps v. everthing
US Robotics and it is external. First question, I just have normal
dial up access on a Windows machine. Do

Is it correct that when using ssh and sftp that all data is being sent
encrypted, no matter what authentication method I use? Nothing that I
see online explicitly says that even though I am using password
authentication (not passphrase authentication) it is still encrypted.

Sorry, what you have isn't a modem. It's only a DSP (digital
signal processor) chip. The modem and sound card are software
in the drivers.
There are very few plans to write modem software to run these
beasts on Linux. It's really hard and they aren't that brilliant
when you've done. I recommend j
To start with, I have nothing to do with development of the Mwave modem
driver for Linux.
But the driver that you downloaded was developed for the last IBM
ThinkPad's produced that had the Mwave modem integrated chip (ThinkPad

The driver is not meant for m
Hi all,
I got a used modem here which I beleive it is Mwave
sound/modem (ACP) MDSP2780 ; but I had no luck with
the driver in IBM page. I thought this driver may only
be used in the IBM Thinkpad machine not others, as I
plug my modem to the different machine. But the thing
is the DOS/WIN driver c
I was playing Q3F the other night and I was noticing some really laggy
network behavior. Nothing new since I'm in a 56K modem, but it eventually
cleared up. A few minutes later, I was disconnected from the ISP (Q3A
users will recognize this from the related error messages in the console,
etc). I l

Hi..
I'm building a new Linux system with a
asus k7m and a A-Open FM56 ITU/2 ISA Modem,
my problem is that it it finds the modem
as a com-port during start-up but refuses
to let me use the com-port afterwards,
it does the same in the *OTHER* operating system
also. I have tried many of the same Mo
