You can play Doom 1 or Doom 2 in Linux, just get the shareware version for
Linux and copy in the appropriate .wad files. One point though: you need to
go through the main menu fairly quickly, before it starts playing the
demos, if you do this. Oth

Check Stomped ( http://www.stomped.com ) and other popular 3d-gaming sites. I know
of squake and xquake are readily available. The Quake2 CD comes with a Linux

Quake2 is a newer version of quake w/ a new graphics engine. I have a
pentium pro, but no 3d card. If you don't have a 3d card, regular quake
looks better. If you have a fast machine (min 200mhz mmx I guess) and a 3d
card, quake2 might be fun.

For Doom2, just make sure the environment variable DOOMWADDIR points to
where the doom2.wad file is; LinuxDoom will run either .wad with the sam

Hi all. Ok, I was never much into game playing, whether it was on Linux or
winblows. I now have a sound card, and got it working, and would like to play
some games on Linux.
