I did some exeperimentation with the pppd configuration. I had the kdebug turned way up (7), probably since the time I installed RH6.0. I got rid of the kernel messages by turning down the value. At 3, no messages, at 4 the messages appear. Although the log file does not prefix the kernel mess

I RTFM. Yes, the man does say that ppd will log transmitted messages at kdebug=4. It actually looks like the bits in the value of kdebug turns on particular logging. The thing that threw me is that the logging is inconsistent, Sometimes it does, but mostly it doesn't. Fred Frederic Herman

Since RH6.0, I have regular occurances of kernel messages (in messages) which appear to be pieces of transmissions from the server back to a pppd connected Windows client. It's most obvious when I am running Netscape on the remote Windoxs box. It is almost like there is some buffer overflow, or
