I figured out mplayer:
# mplayer -dvd 1 -vo x11 [-vop dint] [-zoom]
I included the "-vo x11" to play on external monitor. (Don't understand
why this is not needed when I play on just laptop LCD)
"-zoom" allowed me to expand the window to full screen.

managed to get DMA working on my Compaq Evo N1000v laptop.

Box. Can anybody make any suggestions on what the best brand and model is.
