Just in case somebody ends up with the same problems as me with DMA. I finally
managed to get DMA working on my Compaq Evo N1000v laptop.
Hardware:
        -I/O controller: Intel(r) 82801 Cam Ultra Storage Controller-248-A
        -Harddrive: Toshiba MK3018GAP
        -DVD,cdrw: Toshiba DVD-rom SD-r2102

This is not supported in the kernel packaged with redhat 7.3. I downloaded the
latest stable kernel (2.4.18) and applied the patches 2.4.19-rc3 and
2.4.19-rc3-ac3. Then I used redhat's config file for i686. (I changed a
couple of things, removed modules I didn't need, changed the cpu to pentium 4
class etc) I compiled the kernel, installed it and now DMA is working with my
harddrive and my dvd-rom/cdrw combo drive. (mdma2 on /dev/hdc and udma5 on
/dev/hda)
