In Windows you can suspend, shutdown, and upon reboot your state will have been saved.
Does anyone know if this is possible in Linux, if so how?

i did an upgrade from 7.3 to 9 formating all partitions except /home and
/var
Now when i do up2date, it is still report it as being 7.3 how do i
change it to use 9.0.

I guess it doesn't hurt to note that if "." isn't in your path then simply typing the
command won't work regardless of its mode. You will have to prepend the name of the
script with "./"

Has any managed to get redhat with freeswan to create a vpn tunnel
to a watchguard fire box? I have freeswan installed, but i cant seem to
make a tunnel. Does any one know of some good documentation for this, so
i can read up some more about it ?

Hi
Is there any way that I would be able to add a user to a server so
that they are only able to use their username and password for pop3 ?
Even tho the server is configured for ftp and ssh too?

The only thing i did with the devices was create a symbolic link
cdrom -> hdc with is my cdrom. That made it easier as i just had to put
/dev/cdrom

thats interesting you say that. Just a few questions about this. So if
they are going to do this. why have they got that up2date system in the
installation ? I cant remember it being in 7.3, I am guess it was new to
8.0. I also think a lot of people will start looking to some other
distro.

when you set up the DNS server. did you setup the reverse lookup of the
domain correctly ? So if you use nslookup and type the IP of machine1,
it should come back with the host name of machine1.

I have chkrootkit crontab on my system. It checks most important files
for any virus/trojens etc... and checks if any of the logs have been
changed.
get it from www.chkrootkit.org
I find it very helpful.
