Hmm. I had a similar monitor wake up problem; it only occurred when I
"upgraded" from RH8 to RH9. After warm-booting on several occasions, (I
realize that you would prefer not to do this), I decided that I should
try a 'clean install.' Result: Monitor 'wakes-up' just fine now.

I "upgraded," from RH8 to RH9 by selecting "upgrade" on the RH9 disc.
(as opposed to fresh "install"). After system lock-ups, not being able
to recover from 'screensaver mode', and other mayhem, decided on a fresh
"install."

I am trying to copy /home/user from one RH9 machine to another RH9
machine, using a CDR; but the files and directories lose their
permissions. How should this be done properly, please?
WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR:
I used a CDR, and syntax from RH8 Bible by Negus, p471.
mkisofs -o /var/tmp/user.cd /home
...
I am by no means an expert.
Any help... ideas.

Just installed 8.0 today. Must say that I'm impressed. I had been
attempting to use Mandrake but decided to punt and go with Red Hat due
to numerous headaches.
Anyway, one thing I did like about Mandrake was that by default it
mounted my Windows XP file system in /mnt. Ya, ya, I know...

Can somebody please tell me how to turn off all Log File auto archiving?
ie I don't want the system to generate its own archive files like log.1

I can successfully forward a single port using:
ipmasqadm portfw -a -P tcp -L -R
I guess that maybe you are just missing the source IP address?

I'm running Sendmail 8.9.3 on a RedHat 6.2 box with both POP and IMAP
clients.
Some mail appears to be going missing ie it's not downloaded by the client,
however when I look in /var/spool/mail/user it is there, only the ^A^A^A^A

Someone might be trying to see if you have a socks server, and if it allows
requests from outside your domain. They can then use your socks server to
"mask" their real address. I had someone trying to do that with our socks
server. Fortunatly I had it set up only to allow from within my domain.
