I suddenly lost all user privileges on RH 7.3. I can only login as root.
Services (e.g., Apache) have lost their privs too. The passwd file
appears to be OK. How can I restore user permissions?
For instance, if I attempt to log into my usual account I get this
error message:

Does this tip apply to allowing various keyboards to send
key-combinations to rdesktop too? I would like a Mac keyboard to send
CAPS LOCK (yes we need it), Alt, and Ctrl combinations. I may have read
that redesktop has a separate mapping from X11. I'm confused as usual.

I'm using a samba share to write from an application on Win2000 server

cannot create new directories, which it must do periodically. The

A recent thread here has the solution to this problem. The original
mailman RPM has a broken logrotate script.

I have upgraded most of the important packages that I'm using on RH 7.3
after an upgrade from 7.2. I cannot upgrade openssl rpms. I get "No
space left on device" for /var/lib/rpm/* Yet, I have 92M left on /var.
Is something blocking openssl rpm installs?

Please ignore my "clue" it is incorrect. I do have a space problem in

It's interesting that I do not have a space problem when in single-user
mode. Whatever is giving the false reading only occurs when all
services/apps are running.

After upgrading from 7.2 to 7.3 I noticed that I had no drive space. I
assumed that the upgrade used much of the drive to store temp files, but
it appeared to me that I had plenty of space. Then I discovered that I
had been infected by Slapper variant A (.uubugtaq). I downloaded the RH

ideas for finding and patching. I discovered the files /tmp/.uubugraq
and /tmp/.bugtraq on my system. This is a sign of Variant A.

That is the theory that I'm working on now. tcpwrappers is not allowing

Time out, eh. I have many examples of this from many different servers.

Having a small drive, I installed a minimum X system with gimp and

window manager (e.g., Gnome?). I see the abiword suite directory and the
GNUstep directory in place. Perhaps it just needs to be configured
differently.

I'm a RH novice and have made mistakes in the 3 weeks that I've been
playing with RH 7.2. One of them was not realizing that, for whatever
reason, Postgre-SQL is the preferred SQL and was installed from the disc
when I installed the system. Because I'm trying to mimic a production

Suddenly I lost all privileges while in a user account through ssh.
After loggin out, I could not log back in. I was using sudo at the time
to edit a config file. Is this a know bug, or something else?
