The internal ethernet controller seems to be seen by kudzu, but it is

Can you see any network traffic at all on the linksys card?
Generally RH has not support linksys cards that well. Some of the older
D-Links and nearly any 3-COM would be a better choice.

- Running redhat9.
- LinkSys ethernet card
- adsl modem (provider: sbc), running pppoe

well i dont think that rhl ships with exactly what you're looking for
but i've used parted with some success. i personally prefer to fdisk
and mke2fs (or mke2fs -j for ext3 or mkreiserfs even better) to do the

Have you tried 'lsusb' while being logged in as root?
Try to see if your modem is found and identified by Linux in the output.
However, I suggest you buy a NIC card. It would be much easier to setup.

In the moment I remember what's wrong ... rexec doesn't
use the .rhost file, you need a .netrc file, for .rhosts you

I offer another way to do it. If you're attempting to use your windows
computer to view an X environment on a linux box, you can use VNC instead.

I don't believe they/RedHat updates the .iso
Having said that, you simply install, then (before you do anything!) run
the 'up2date' applet and it will download like 200MB of update rpms and
install them for you. Pretty painless, just takes time and bandwidth.
You could always go Shrike (RH9)...
