Hello,

I've had a machine which I planned to put into production (Samba) -- and
just now tried to run the full 'rpm -Fvh' against all the latest errata.
Unfortunately for me, eventhough 'rpm --test -F *.rpm' worked without any
errors, doing 'rpm -Fvh *.rpm' returned ALOT of segfaulted package updates.

After a system reboot, it kernel panicked, dying with 'isofs: read_fbread)'
or an error like it (sorry, didn't write it down - was too busy having my
head clutched in my hands in agony). Machine was bootable via a boot disk,
but since everything was hosed from the kernel modules side I'm doing a RH
v8 install as a replacement.

The machine is an old Pentium Pro, 200Mhz 4x 4Gb SCSI hdds, with 5 software
RAID arrays (3x RAID5, 2x RAID0), 150Mb of RAM.

My questions : a) Has anyone seen anything like this ?
               b) Does RH9 not play nice with the RPM subsystem, I've seen
similar errors on another P4 box, but in that case even
with a number of errors/warnings -- the system came up
                  fine.

I'll be running memtest86 after work, see whether that turns anything up.

This week just gets worse, and worse.

Thanks!
