Maybe map a drive to that machine and use that to publish to?

Perhaps MSBuild can not publish to an http:// URI? Or that you don't
have permissions to publish to that URI? I would suggest checking the
MSBuild documentation. Perhaps this will help?

You need to give us more information.
What are you doing to "publish"? Are you just copying files? Do you need
to create a vdir? Do you need to put stuff into the GAC? Is this a web
app?
