Not replaced - its just a different approach. Not actively supported
just means that no one has volunteered to maintain it. I think that
generating based build files is just as valid as using the
solution task particularly if you happen to be moving away from vs.net
and no longer want to maint
Slingshot does not support VS.NET 2003 files. I also
belive slingshot is no longer actively supported and has been replaced with
the task in the latest versions of
NAnt.
