Thinking about this some more - I think it’s likely that interlaced video (in which each key frame consists of a pair of successive frames, rather than just one) just won’t work with our ‘trick play’ mechanism. (I don’t recall ever testing this with interlaced video.) If that’s the case, then

Hi Ross, My team and I have created a video streaming application using MPEG2 TS with H264 video. When we're not using the trick mode both progressive and interlaced videos will play correctly, but when using trick mode to play at anything other than 1x we run into issues with interlaced video.
