I don't think that adding yet another configuration option would be such a good
idea. Configuration complexity can really become a pain.

I'm not sure the inconsistency would be important. I don't think most users
think of categories as accounts, even if that is the internal mechanism.

Just an observation. If you go into the categories view and click on the icon
bottom right to expand all categories then this setting is remembered next time
you open kmymoney.
