Is it possible that the system is freezing before it has a chance to
apply the OS microcode, so instead it crashes while using the BIOS'

I can reproduce this problem with Ubuntu 20.04, stock Gnome and latest
NVidia beta driver 470.42.01 as suggested by X11 maintainers.
Gnome doesn't crash, but just restarts the desktop.
The var/crash folder is also empty, and EnterVT errors are printed in
syslog

The operating system disk is /dev/sdo.
Yeah, that's the issue, it became read only which results crash of the
server.
4 servers are currently affected. 3 of them have different operating
system disk.
We have never faced this issue in ubuntu 20.04, this started to occur
since we moved to 22.04.
