After upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04, I have no internet anymore. It
seems like a problem with the network card driver, but I'm not sure.
This is some information.
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS

$ uname -r
3.13.0-34-generic
$ sudo
Upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04, formatted and reinstalled 14.04, restored from
backup, installed NVidia drivers and Gnome3. Everything finally working,
then did the 3.13.0-34 update.
Screen flashes in graphics mode light, dark a few times. Returned to
text mode, blank cursor top-left - sometimes white,
Oops, too hasty. It appears there is a compile error. I'm likely missing
a scaffolding patch.

Found an usb drive with -6 linux image. Booted & ran fine.
-8 from update will rarely start unity. -7 never boots to panels.
BTW, Xorg seems to be running the screen fine. Starting unity gets many
lines of errors but I don't know what log these might be stored in - I
haven't found any of these

Have there been any updates on this issue? This bug affects me as well (in
fact, exactly as Vish posted), and I would like to know if there's a decent
workaround.
I run a wireless driver on Windows 7 for my card, and it runs fine, so I know
that it's not a hardware, but a driver failure.
