Thanks. That confirms there is no EDID coming from the screen, so Linux has to guess about the signalling method. Turns out you're not the first to encounter this bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97822 So the good news is the hardware is not faulty but just unusual. One user

Wayland versions done. Again, the edids.bin would not attach as it was empty. I have already made various changes to the display under Wayland. All successful, although only in top half of the screen. Regards, Glenn Stewart On Wed, Jan 20, 2021 at 1:29 PM Glenn Stewart wrote: > Thanks Danie

Thanks Daniel. BIOS Update was done under Windows/HP Tools before I installed Ubuntu. xrandrv.txt is attached. edids.bin would not attach, as it was empty. I tried various display settings, which all worked, but within the top half of the screen. Regards, Glenn Stewart On Tue, Jan 19, 2021 a

I would also try the latest BIOS update from HP, but you need to have Windows installed to do that :( https://support.hp.com/au-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp- eliteone-800-g2-23-inch-touch-all-in-one-pc/769/swItemId/vc-262067-1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a me

Hi Glenn, That first screenshot in comment #17 is most telling. It shows the BIOS screen is rendered half right and half wrong. So given some of the problems persist in the BIOS screen (when no OS is running) AND in Windows 10, I think it's likely the screen is faulty and needs replacing. But mayb

Hi Daniel. I have installed Ubuntu over Win10. I have enabled Ubuntu on Wayland. Everything works - LAN/WAN, Audio, Video, WiFi, Bluetooth, Printing, Mail, software updates, etc. It's just that it is still squashed up into the top half of the screen. What else should I be doing please? Regards,

I did not want to actually install Ubuntu. I wanted to be able to run it and see how it has progressed since I last used 12.04 from 2012 till 2016 on 3 x machines that were formerly Win XP. In summary then, my hardware is suspected to be the issue, and if I want to progress to see if the Wayland
