a result of changes made to fix CVE-2024-35963. What I am asking for is
for this regression to be addressed and or backported to HWE 6.8 once it

Didn't work in my AB350 Gaming 3 with Ubuntu 16.04, I get a lot of
"unexpected irq trap at vector 07" without acpi=off before system
freezes.

the wifi card has nothing to do with your system freezes.
It is the kernel. Use kernel Version 4.1.12, that is a confirmed workaround
confirmed by at least 3 people in this thread.
for the wifi card just create a file in /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf
