In all kernels the wifi connection shutdowns randomly, also in 4.8 after further testing. I think the issue is in some package related with the ip assignation, and not with the kernel or driver included on it. The wifi driver is working always. The disconnections seems are related with the ip assignation. I've tried dhcp and static ip methods and in both of them the wifi suffers from random shutdowns. Also I tried disabling NetworkManager and managing wifi connection with wicd and the wifi disconnects and reconnect inmediatly in random scenarios.
I've read in various forums issues related with wifi disconnections on ubuntu 16.04, with wireless network cards of all kind of brandings involved (broadcom, realtek, ralink). I think the issue is ip assignation related. I suggest delete this bug because its starting point is wrong. Thank you for your patience. I've done everything I could. ** Tags removed: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-4.8 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1630459 Title: Ralink rt5390 unstable connection on ubuntu 16.04.1 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 with all updates.
