I'm unable to install kernel version 4.15 because it requires an older
version of libssl. This kernel does not seem compatible with the
packages on Lubuntu 19.04

Lubuntu 19.04 login screen doesn't appear when using vmwgfx

I'm running Lubuntu in a qemu 2.12.1 VM. 18.04 works fine.
When installing a fresh Lubuntu 19.04 or dist upgrade the 18.04 version
the login screen doesn't appear anymore. Dropping to the console and
typing `startx` launches the desktop successfully.

Ok i have the new kernel loaded now. The new dmesg output still has 9
call traces in it.

Call trace in dmesg (need t
The dmesg on 4.20 rc6 still contains a lot of call traces. I don't know
if they are the same ones or of the same origin though. When comparing
files i initially thought the 4.20rc6 has less call traces, but actually
at the end of the diff there are more. So i would say both 4.18 and
4.20rc6 roughly
Hi jsalisbury i can not tell you about the situation before because it
was the first time i checked dmesg. I did a dist upgrade from 18.04 to
18.10 though. But like i said i don't know if this was already happening
in 18.04

After a quick test i see the problems remain (did like 10 boots).
By the way when half of the screen has rendering problems it looks like

Ok i will test it. The proposed kernel is "only" version 4.15.0-33
though (the current versino is 4.15.0-32). It can take a while to report
back because I'm going to travel.
