Help. I can't help myself. I've read many similar issues but without

My syslog was getting spammed with "Keyboard brightness level control not
supported" as dell-laptop was trying to get/set backlight values.

Well... I made update (about 180 MB) and my laptop (Asus X55U with UEFI)
crashed. During update I saw in details window "killed" and everything
hung. After that laptop went into text mode and showed "kernel panic".
Moreover after power restart Ubuntu 13.10 (x86_64) loaded OK b

1. Write speed in "Disks" tool is one thing.
2. The real write speed (e.g. during normal copy files) is other thing.
1. For "Verbatim" the "Disks" tool shows good results:
- Verbatim: 87.7 MB/s (read), 183.4 MB/s (write), 18.07 (access) - GOOD RESULT
- Seagate Expansion: 36.8 MB/s (r

Drive 500GB (model inside ST500LT012-9WS142) on my laptop x55u. I had
lower write speed than Verbatim (Seagate inside). So I set it as record
disk to SMART TV. With Samsung TV record fine.

Disks tool shows the USB 3.0 flash drive speed. Here it is connected via USB
2.0.
It reach the max USB 2.0 read speed but the write speed is always low.
I do not have USB 3.0 here but the result is the same on laptop Asus X55U

not works correctly on my laptop Asus X55U. Disk model inside
ST500LT012-9WS142 (checked via "Disks" tool). Disk is connetcted via USB
3.0
I am not sure if I want to do that "apport-collect 1229269" command.

Brightness - not saved

Problem: Brightness is not saved. If I change brightness via "fn key +
f5" or "fn key + f6" or via "Brightness & Lock" tool, the brightness is
not saved after restart (when I turn on laptop again).

Currently I am not able to run apport-collect 1217966 tool because i
run Ubuntu with older kernel version (3.8.0-27) in order to get it to
work. As soon as the new kernel will be available in updates I will test
it and write the result here for sure. Now I am not sure if I want
install not tested
Moreover disk is partitioned with two partitions (primary + extended and
one logical in). With kernel 3.8.0-27 works.

Disk (model ST500LM0 12 HN-M500MB) connected to the laptop (model ASUS
X55U) via USB 3.0 port is not visible in the system. After connection,
the disk is turned on (led is on) but is not visible as device under the
Ubuntu system (under Disk application or fdisk -l there is no
95 matches
