4.4.0-140 does not solve the problem for me either (had to revert back to 4.4.0-138). The first time I tried 4.4.0-140 the system locked up, but there was no kernel crash stacktrace and I was able to use the Magic SysRq key combination to avoid a hardware reboot. The second time I tried 4.4.0-140
