I have simply clean-installed 13.04 on a Zoostorm (Clevo C5101) laptop - on which I normally run (and dual boot) 12.04 (which is stable). With the stock 13.04 3.8.x series kernels I've tried the system completely hangs a few seconds after login, most often on the first cold boot, regardless of which app I start. REISUB works but that is all. I captured the above oops trace from kern.log.1 once. A second problem with the stock 13.04 kernel I've suffered, which prevented me even getting a bootable system at the end of the installer, is that efibootmgr always triggers a (strangely non-fatal) kernel panic and doesn't work (nb. this laptop has an EFI BIOS and no BIOS upgrade is available). With a 12.04 USB boot stick I've got past the install issue with boot repair and an older kernel - now I am on to this problem. I have no kernel problems on other 13.04 PCs at work (different hardware). I was considering filing another bug because nothing is an exact match for my issue but this matches the only stack trace I've had. I'm currently testing the latest mainline 3.10, no hangs yet but it's early days (3.10.12-031012.201309141044). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169984 Title: 3.8.0-18 HDMI/DisplayPort audio regression: Either oops or opening device fails with -ENODEV Status in Ubuntu Desktop Tests: New Status in Release Notes for Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “linux” source package in Raring: Fix Released Bug description: <Release note text> * There are reports of non-functional HDMI audio on various machines, even with proprietary drivers.
