I started getting this problem in the last couple of days, and I did
_not_ upgrade Ubuntu to 24.10, I am still on Ubuntu 24.04. Was there
some update backported to 24.04 that also broke it for 24.04?...
This seems to affect bluetooth headset and speaker devices. Bluetooth
mouse continues to work
Can confirm the fix works here too. Compute jumps to 100%, but system
remains fully usable and the process moves on slowly.

Your ffmpeg example is on the simple side compared to the pipeline that
creates the issue for me, where ffmpeg has multiple inputs and a
pipeline that touches both the GPU and the CPU. For simple things it

Ideally a patch number update to the 5.15.X kernel line should not break
installed software like Virtualbox. Even if upgrading the kernel or
upgrading virtualbox is a workaround, this situation is undesired within
an LTS release.
The main reason for staying inside the Ubuntu repositories (for pyth
5.15.107 did not boot not sure why. Temporary mitigation:

Confirmed to be a problem with kernel 5.15.117 installed via unattended-
upgrades. 5.15.116 does not work. Virtualbox previously worked. Trying
to revert to 5.15.107.

Weird, because it does have the AX88179 chipset too, same as the one that was
failing for me (Ugreen CM209).

Even installed, not sure if would work because I was entering on old kernel and
even did uninstall this malfunction kernel to enter automatically on old kernel

I just installed the latest mainline kernel, 4.17.0-041700rc4-generic, and the
issue persists...
In bluetoothctl, it says there is no default controller available, and the
"switch" in the gnome configs does nothing.
Journalctl -b | grep Bluetooth gives me the following error: kernel: Bluetoot

line, I tried to trigger a manual scan using bluetoothctl, but it says
"No default controller available".

a clean install yesterday, and the switch thing in the configurations

This looks like a bug that has been around for quite some time.
I'll bet it's been inherited from kernel 2.4 or 2.6, since the available
drivers from Realtek
