I can confirm adding i915 to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, followed by
update-initramfs -u
also fixed it on my system

This is a very old discussion, but since I experienced the issue with a
recovered computer just a few days ago, I believe that it is worth to
leave a note here.
I had the same problem with the bios not booting anymore and not even
displaying the logo. However, following the suggestions I managed
Prev attachemnt is /var/log/apt/history.log. Here is
