I think it's important for us to distinguish between the default session
in a new install (which is meant to be Wayland), and failing to choose
Xorg when Xorg was used in the previous login. The latter sounds like
more of a bug, and closer to what was initially reported here.

By the way, I managed to reproduce the nvme issue when using pci=nocrs
on a Thinkpad T480. I'm not entirely sure if this could be considered a
regression since that command line option is a blunt force hack, but
I'll try investigating it.

errors you get are “Correctable”, right? Then it’s probably only
cosmetic.

this laptop (ThinkPad T50) has a dedicated Nvidia VGA, and in BIOS setup you
can choose to use
1. Integrated VGA
2. Dedicated VGA
3. Nvidia Optimus
If I choose 2. it will use the nouvoue (instead if Intel) it works OK with
6.8.0-44-generic.
Seems the root of the problem is the b
