About once every two days since I updated to the 5.4.0-137-generic
kernel, ubuntu has partially frozen. This has happened three times so
far.
In every case the freeze occurred when I tried to save a file that I had
been working on for a while in emacs. The first indication of

I noted that in my various ... sudo update-grub attempts, there was
continous mention of grub not being able to be found etc
So, i copied and pasted the grub conditions from a known good pc with
the same OS and version to this pc with the problem,,and low and
behold, all is good aga
I should also mention, despite the capability of the mobo, the processor
and memory are *not* overclocked. All of the BIOS settings are default
except for the fans are in "quiet" mode.

I will make an attempt to open the PC to check if the ribbon cable or

Just a little extra context for this.
Some systems this manifests as described because they don't use _BTP for
notifying when battery has crossed a critical threshold but instead
notify the OS of every battery level change.
Systems that use _BTP still will have the issue manifest with other ACPI
The above comment might not be correct, because it turned out one of the
micron nvme devices had a defect and was not recognized by any hardware
at all, even when not hot swapping.
There is a chance that this is related to the bios/firmware combination
on this supermicro model.
