odd issue after upgrade of ker

after upgrading to 4.18.0-13, audio, multiple monitor, and some
keyboards stopped working (dmesg/lsusb would always detect the keyboard,
but only a subset of them could actually be used.
also tried installing many previous versions of the kernel from
4.15.0-20 to what i am on
For the quiet and non-quiet problem, since there is no difference between 1st
and 2nd alsa-info.txt, I really have no idea what is the root cause for this
problem. Probably, we can do another test:
don't plug the headphone in poweroff state,
poweron the machine, and let machine enter grub, then p
