I can't reproduce the problem on Linux 4.15.0-13. I reinstalled
Lollypop, but no crashes. Only a completely other crash of Lollypop
itself, every time I change the album art.

Some good and bad news: I have been testing this in a running Gnome 3
environment. I decided to start testing on console. On console, all
kernels seem to fail using crypt swap. This suggests to me that failure
must depend on current memory usage, dirty ratio, or some such runtime

Same Problem with ubuntu 17.10 an Kernel 4.13.0-37, can only boot with
kernel 4.13.0-36-generic. Using Gnome + Radeon.

@Colin, sorry for the delay, I just checked and
/sys/module/spl/parameters/spl_taskq_thread_dynamic defaults to 0
already.
That said, the issue happens only occasionally. Since I first reported
it, there was only one other event during which it occurred several
times in a row (between 2018-03-14 a
somehow I could once with kernel 4.16.2 and linux-firmware 1.173 get it
working:

...but could not reproduce it and rest of ti
It was about 200 datasets or so and we renamed them through a script
with the rename command line program. Nothing special.
I don't work at that company anymore, so i can't reproduce it or look up
the exact command used.

@bmoyles- FYI, we're just removing the kernel.ibrs_dump interface
altogether -- its only purpose is to provide that debug info, and
nothing like it made it to mainline.

Thanks for finding the mainline 4.10 does not have the bug and 4.11
final does. Can you also test v4.11-rc1, so we can find which release
candidate introduced the bug?

Took kernel 3.13.0-144 9/4/18. PC booted every day. No other settings

You may be able to identify the processes that are causing the problem
using the fuser command, e.g. on mounted zfs file system /poolname use:
fuser -vm /poolname
maybe that helps.
