Sorry for the late reply but @io-mattia98, even hitting escape doesn't
do anything for me when the system freezes.
@kleber-souza the patch does work as expected but just that the system
hangs while restarting, but if you power if off and restart it works
again, which I assume is an issue with GRUB
I tested the linux kernel SRU in Xenial and Zesty using the following
linux package versions:
- xenial: linux-image-4.4.0-98-generic 4.4.0-98.121
- zesty: linux-image-4.10.0-38-generic 4.10.0-38.42
The linux kernel SRU testing was successful and followed what's
documented in the [Linux Kernel T

The above logs were taken with Ubuntu 17.04 where TSC deadline enables
just fine even though the microcode revision is 0x1f as in 17.10 where
this revision causes problems which ought to be solved in revision 0x25.

4.4.0-62-generic. Can you try testing with the -proposed Xenial kernel:

A few days have passed but my installation still has issues. It didn't
occur in Debian 9 or Debian Testing but it does in Ubuntu 17.10 and
Ubuntu 17.04. Strange.
As a workaround I'll use my phone as an external wireless network
adapter (connected through USB) so I can at least
suspend/reboot/shutd
Hopefully it won't take long to fix...
