If ACPI is the problem, shouldn't dmesg show some "elan0651" device (although
it does not bind any driver to it)?
So, if I cannot find any "elan" string in my dmesg, this should mean that the
kernel does not find ANY i2c device with a similar hardware name, shouldn't it?

@chichun I've tried installing you debs, but my uname keeps reflecting
the Jun 30 date. I pull all the debs and install them with `sudo dpkg -i
--force-overwrite *.deb`.
Is there some other magik incantation to force this?
