OK, I think I have fixed it.
I am running Lubuntu 15.04.
My notebook is a Pentium M and I need to have the pae flag added to the cpuinfo
file manually.
I had done this prior to upgrade to 15.04 but it seems to have gotten removed
after that.

15.04 and now with 15.10 on my Intel NUC5CPYH for the last 3 months
