I finally figured out the problem. The problem existed in almost every
live version that I have successfully run in the past including Knoppix.
I do not know how the BIOS got changed because I did not fool with it as
I did not know it. The video BIOS was set to NOT use the integrated
video card.
I didn't hear anything from Tim Gardner.
What a shame - the fix is here and hundreds of users get a bad user
experience using Ubuntu, with a constantly locking laptop.

Thanks Matt!! When I got my Inspiron 910 I wiped XP and installed
Ubuntu. I went through all of this then with 12.10 but couldnt remember
how I fixed it. When I upgraded to 13.10 it still worked but I kept

I have updated the BIOS, and haven't been able to reproduce the issue
since after about 10 suspends, so if not fixed the issue was largely
diminished by the BIOS upgrade. I will update this bug report again
should the issue reappear.

I'm using nvidia-346 drivers on my Alienware m15 (Jan 2015 model) with
nvidia-prime. The problem I'm having is that during normal use and

The kernel crashes reproducable when I plug in my external USB 3.0
harddisk. sysreq system is not working anymore and there is no output in
kern.log. The only option for me to create a log was a foto. The
