Thanks for your tip so much. Now my Ubuntu can see wireless networks, however

I've been using v3.17-rc1-utopic for a few weeks now. It didn't crash
for more than a week, then I had two system freezes on the same day.
Hasn't crashed again in more than a week. I do get some 'sleep effects'
--initially going into suspend right after I tried to wake it, more

(ubuntu 14.04 LTS) on a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop.

Another update on this to track down the problem further:
I've tested several kernels from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline
What I did was installing every final kernel so I noticed the last one
working without this problem seems to be http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
This morning my CH Pedals were dead (like so often) and:
sudo lsusb -v
didn't help but I remembered to use:
echo '3-3' |sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/unbind
to unbind for Metro Last Light. Need that as MLL keeps spinning
and thinks my joystick to be some sort of controller.
So I did:
