I have the same experience as Bruno on a pure-Intel system, where the
performance penalty is visible (GPU usage + occasional frame drops) but not
debilitating, and I'd be willing to run the profiler as well if

I track power consumption on my Intel laptop through a sensor widget that
measures at the battery, and I found that power consumption with an ICC profile
with 6.1.5 (which should have the shadow buffer changes) is
