There is nothing we will do on X.
For wayland we can stop sending frame events to obscured surfaces. That's in
the queue.

How is this not a bug? The original report describes something that certainly
feels like a bug. Is there nothing we can do here? Maybe we could just stop the
animated transition effect when compositing is enabled?
