I see. I had to disable “System Settings/Workspace/Desktop Behavior/Desktop
Effects/Fading Popups”. This effect was probably introduced or factored out of
another effect in the last major KDE release because I did not have

These are separate X11 windows (or Wayland surfaces). Please also disable
window manager animations.
