Additional note: The total of those 80 files is 1.6GB, so it's 20MB per image.

The database is on a M2-SSD, not USB:-)
The problem is that the photo-HDD (via 6GBit SATA) is so high and takes
considerably longer than digikam writes metadata (at least considering the
